My Journey to becoming a Nobel Woman – Day 52
Sorry for the long break in posting — life got in the way of blogging.
Try Direct Marketing
Scripture to Memorize:
She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
Passage to Read: Ecclesiastes 5:19 NLT Today’s passage tells us it is a good thing to receive wealth and good health from God and we should enjoy it. We should enjoy our work and accept our lot in life as it is also a gift from God.
Thank God for all he has given you. Tell God how wonderful he is and that he is more than enough. (Please mean it and if you can’t right now, ask God for help so that you can mean it.) Ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom to not sacrifice your health to get wealth. Remember to ask for serenity to accept the things you cannot change, courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference. Ask God to help you in the area of contentment. Ask God to show you how your lot in life is His gift to you.
We know from our readings of Proverbs 31, that the Proverbs 31 woman was a saleswoman. She made garments, that makes her a manufacturer too! Another task the Proverbs 31 woman accomplished was weaving sashes which she sold to the merchants — that makes her a distributor. She was a woman of many talents and so are you!
One area to look into when looking for a way to make money from home is the Direct Sales Industries. What exactly are Direct Sales Industries, you ask? Well, to name a few Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Creative Memories, Scentsy and Avon. By joining this type of industry you don’t have to go it alone — you got a company with products that are well-researched and developed. The companies have developed the promotional materials (from catalogs to websites — the company has it ready for your use). You can check out the Direct Selling Association (DSA) website to get even more information.
With a direct selling organization the person doing the work makes the money. Mary Kay has more than four hundred women who earn a six-figure income each year, and many of them do not even have a college degree. I will tell you this much, you have to use good business sense — don’t put yourself in debt just to win prizes — order what you will sell. If you are afraid you can’t sell, do like many AVON reps have done — take orders from customers and then place your order with the company (that way you know it’s paid for). If you do start that way, I’d recommend ordering what I refer to as the heir and the spare method, that way you build your inventory — you won’t make money that way to start but you’ll build an inventory without going into debt.
Whichever company you choose, remember the 80/20 rule that was discussed earlier. It will apply here as well as it does everywhere else. Ask yourself the following questions before you decide which company to go with:
- Can I make it to the top 20 percent? (Remember those will be the highest earners.)
- Is this business successful enough that the remaining 80 percent can earn a decent income? (If not, skip that company unless you really like the products.)
Practical Application: Explore the possibility of investing some of your time and energy in building a direct sales business.
