My Journey to becoming a Nobel Woman – Day 45

Purge Personal Items

Scripture to Memorize:

She makes coverings for her bed;

she  is clothed in fine linen and purple.

Her husband is respected at the city gate,

where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

Proverbs 31:22-23

Passage to Read: Hebrews 12:1-2 Today’s passage deals with getting rid of everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us so that we can run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  It also reminds us to fix our eyes on Jesus.

Guided Prayer:

Thank God for the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us and cheer us on toward the finish line.  Thank God for having their stories preserved in His Word an in Christian biographies so that we could be encouraged and challenged by their stories.  Ask for help in throwing off all that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles.  Ask for perseverance for the race we are to run.  Affirm that you are fixing your eyes on Jesus.

Personal Observations:

Since we need to throw off everything that hinders us, we need to do some more purging!  Today let’s move to the bathroom.  Gather up all your hair care products, skin care products and makeup.  If it is over a year old — throw it out!  If it’s 90% empty — toss it.  If you don’t use it — toss it!  Price isn’t a factor — if you aren’t using it, quit letting it take up space in your home!

Now, let’s move onto accessories.  By this we are talking about purses, belts, hats, scarves, and so on.  You know the drill — apply the 80/20 rule.  If you don’t wear, give it away.  Lastly, we are going to hit your jewelry boxes.    If you don’t wear it — get rid of it (no matter who gave it to you).  If you really can’t bear to part with it for sentimental reasons — create a NOSTALGIA tote/bin — and put those items there.  Now, when you purchase jewelry in the future remember the Proverbs 31 woman — she wore fine linen and the purest gold.  Instead of picking up the cheap stuff — invest in some good, quality pieces.  Definitely get rid of anything that only goes with one outfit.  Less is more.

Practical Application:

  • Purge your personal care products.
  • Purge your accessories.
  • Purge your jewelry.
  • If you belong to a group, suggest an accessory exchange night.
