My Journey to becoming a Nobel Woman – Day 25
Grow Strong by Defying Gravity
Scripture to Memorize:
She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Passage to Read: Romans 12:1-2 Today’s passage deals reminds us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. It also cautions us to no longer conform to the patterns of this world.
Include in your prayer today your amazement over what Jesus would do for you while you were not worthy of the sacrifice. Offer your body to him. Confess your natural tendency to conform to this world. Ask the Holy Spirit to transform you and renew your mind with the Word of God.
The Proverbs 31 woman lived at a time when physical labor was just a part of everyday life. For most of us, the conveniences of today’s world pretty much eliminate most of our physical labor. Since we no longer have all the physical labor required of us the P31 woman did we need to find an alternative to keeping fit and strong.
Some women will join gyms and/or participate in aerobics (if you’re one of them — take the day off, go volunteer in a soup kitchen! today is for those of us who don’t have a regular exercise program). Donna says she has discovered a fast, simple way to get a total body workout: rebounding.
Rebounding is a fancy word for jumping on a mini-trampoline. One benefit of rebounding is it not only burns calories, but it strengthens muscles and bones. NASA found that rebounding is 68 percent more efficient than running when it comes to producing physical results. Their research showed that the simple act of jumping up and down exposes the human body to g-force (pull of gravity). As you resist gravity you strengthen your body and it’s fun!
Donna gave two three words of warning:
- Bounce lightly. (Don’t leap in the air.) Begin with just two or three minutes per day and build up to fifteen or twenty minutes.
- Do not buy a cheap rebounder.
- Check with your doctor.
Consider the purchase of a rebounder.
